Vince Dooley

Dooley was born in Mobile, Alabama, in 1932. He played football at Auburn University, where he was a two-time All-American. After graduating from Auburn, Dooley began his coaching career as an assistant at Georgia Tech.

In 1964, Dooley was hired as the head coach at Georgia. He quickly turned the Bulldogs into a national powerhouse. In 1980, Dooley led the Bulldogs to their first national championship in 74 years.

Dooley retired from coaching in 1988. He has since worked as a sports commentator and author.

Mark Richt

Mark Richt is the second-winningest coach in Georgia football history. He led the Bulldogs to two SEC championships and one national championship appearance. Richt was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2019.

Richt was born in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1960. He played football at the University of Miami, where he was a two-time All-American. After graduating from Miami, Richt began his coaching career as an assistant at Florida State.

In 2001, Richt was hired as the head coach at Georgia. He quickly turned the Bulldogs into a national contender. In 2002, Richt led the Bulldogs to their first SEC championship in 20 years.

Richt retired from coaching in 2015. He has since worked as a sports commentator and author.

The Greatest Players

Georgia football has produced some of the greatest players in college football history. Some of the most notable players include:
