April 4, 1957: Launch of Sputnik 1

Sputnik 1 was the first artificial satellite to be launched into orbit around the Earth. It was launched by the Soviet Union from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Sputnik 1 was a small, spherical satellite that weighed about 184 pounds. It was equipped with a radio transmitter that sent out a beeping signal that could be heard by radio receivers around the world. The launch of Sputnik 1 was a major milestone in the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union.

April 3, 1973: Invention of the flip phone

The flip phone was invented by Martin Cooper, a Motorola engineer. Cooper was working on a prototype for a portable cellular phone when he came up with the idea of a phone that could be folded in half. The first flip phone was called the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X. It was a bulky device that weighed about 2 pounds and had a talk time of about 30 minutes. However, the DynaTAC 8000X was a revolutionary device that paved the way for the modern smartphone.

April 6, 1994: Launch of the Hubble Space Telescope

The Hubble Space Telescope is a space telescope that was launched into orbit around the Earth by the Space Shuttle Discovery. The Hubble Space Telescope is one of the most important scientific instruments ever built. It has revolutionized our understanding of the universe and has helped us to make discoveries about the age, size, and composition of the universe. April 13, 1995: Invention of the World Wide Web
