On May 11, 1985, a devastating fire tore through the city of Bradford, England, killing 56 people and injuring hundreds more. The fire started in the main stand of Bradford City Stadium during a football match between Bradford City and Lincoln City. The fire spread rapidly through the wooden stand, and within minutes the entire structure was engulfed in flames.

The fire was one of the worst disasters in British sporting history. Fifty-six people died in the fire, including 54 fans and two firefighters. Hundreds more were injured, many of them seriously.

The Bradford Fire had a profound impact on the city of Bradford. The fire destroyed the city's football stadium, which was a major landmark and a source of pride for the community. The fire also led to a major public inquiry, which found that the stadium had not met safety standards and that the fire could have been prevented.

Fifty Six: The Story of the Bradford Fire is a harrowing account of that tragic day, told through the eyes of those who lived it. The book tells the stories of the victims, the survivors, and the firefighters who risked their lives to save others. Fifty Six is a powerful and moving tribute to the victims of the Bradford Fire, and a reminder of the importance of fire safety.
